Nature Trails

Tucked deep in the hill tracts of Bandarban lies Nafakhum, one of Bangladesh's largest and most beautiful waterfalls. Unlike other tourist-heavy locations, Nafakhum offers raw, unfiltered nature at its best. The journey to Nafakhum starts from Thanchi, a small remote village accessible by a thrilling boat ride on the Sangu River. The final stretch to the waterfall involves a few hours of trekking through tribal villages, bamboo bridges, and dense jungle. It’s a moderate trek, but the payoff is huge: a roaring waterfall cascading into a crystal-clear natural pool surrounded by untouched greenery. This is an experience best shared with friends, especially for those seeking adventure. Along the way, interact with indigenous Marma or Tripura communities who often host visitors and provide meals and shelter. Make sure to carry essentials, hire a local guide, and get permission from local authorities or the army if required. The best time to visit is right after the monsoon (August–November), when the waterfall is in full glory.
